AHL PRESIDENT ANDREWS SAYS CORPORATE SUPPORT HITS $2M

The AHL's corporate revenue has reached $2M and a new
CBA "will be signed any day," according to David Heuschkel
of the HARTFORD COURANT. AHL President David Andrews said
that the league is looking at expansion markets, with two
"potential sites" in VA. A Norfolk, VA, group made a
presentation on Wednesday. Andrews said the 18-team league
could soon expand to 24 teams (HARTFORD COURANT, 2/13).
WPHL: The WPHL is profiled by Mike Shropshire in SI.
WPHL Founder/President Rick Kozuback's business plan is
based on the theory "that a novelty like hockey can be an
appealing entertainment alternative" in the Southwest U.S.
Kozuback says that if WPHL franchises "watch their nickels
and dimes, they can realize a profit by averaging 3,000 fans
per game." Kozuback: "That's 3,000 paid, not counting the
     freebies" (SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, 2/16 issue).
