NAMES IN THE NEWS

          Nets C JAYSON WILLIAMS was a guest on COMEDY CENTRAL's
     "The Daily Show" last night.  During the interview, host
     CRAIG KILBORN showed a tape of himself playing Liberty F
     REBECCA LOBO in a pick-up game.  Williams, on Kilborn's
     performance: "I think you're really white" (COMEDY CENTRAL,
     2/11). ...Former Bucks G SIDNEY MONCRIEF has been frequently
     mentioned as a potential candidate for public office. 
     Moncrief, a registered independent in AR, on whether he
     would run for office: "Not right now, but I don't rule out
     anything in life" (SI, 2/16 issue)....In L.A., Mike James
     reviewed "I Love to Play," a CD by JAKE TROUT AND THE
     FLOUNDER, a.k.a. PETER JACOBSEN, PAYNE STEWART and MARK LYE. 
     James: "It's a very slick production, and sounds darn good
     if you're not listening too closely.  But the lyrics are so
     insipid that even a tune as catchy as" a takeoff of RANDY
     NEWMAN's "I Love L.A." "can't carry it" (L.A. TIMES, 2/11).
