JOINT ARENA MAY BE BACK ON; LEAFS TO BUY CONTROL OF RAPTORS?

          A Maple Leafs-Raptors union at Air Canada Centre "may
     not be dead after all," according to Bird & Hornby of the
     TORONTO SUN, who report the city was "abuzz" yesterday with
     talk of a move which would see Leafs interests gain majority
     control of the Raptors and Air Canada Centre.  Leafs Chair
     Steve Stavro: "There's no truth to (a deal) yet. ... [But]
     discussions have been going on for a while."  Bird & Hornby
     report that NHL sources said that a "major announcement" on
     a single-arena deal could be expected in 7-10 days.  And
     insiders say the NBA has been put on "red alert" to expect a
     Raptors ownership change in the future (TORONTO SUN, 2/11).
