LEAGUE NOTES

NFL: The NFL's salary cap "jumps" $10M to $51.507M in
'98, according to "preliminary projections" sent by the
league to teams. For '98, the estimated defined gross
revenue -- broadcast and ticket income -- of the league is
$2.85B (Larry Weisman, USA TODAY, 2/10)...The 49ers and
Seahawks will play an exhibition game August 15 in
Vancouver, marking the first time the league has "ventured
into" British Columbia (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 2/8).
OTHER NOTES: In Tampa, Tom McEwen reports that the '99
MLS Cup "will be played" at Tampa's new stadium: "Other
bidders have been discouraged" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 2/10)....In
St. Louis, Keith Schildroth reported that the RHI "is in
disarray," as the league's CA offices "have been closed for
months." However, RHI CEO Larry King said that "there will
be" a '98 season, and that he is "waiting for" a $1.5M loan
"to keep the league alive" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/8).
