Published January 22, 1998
MLB "is still the best bargain in professional sports,
though most teams raised 1998 ticket prices," according to
USA TODAY's Chuck Johnson. Of the 28 teams that played in
'97, 20 increased prices for the '98 season. The increases
range from $1 to $10. In its feature, USA TODAY charts the
best bargains for each MLB team and lists each team's
average ticket price for '97 and '98. The piece also
compares the average ticket prices for the big four and
NASCAR. NASCAR tickets average $80 (USA TODAY, 1/22).
