ONLINE NEWS & NOTES: NFL DEAL A "BIG WIN" FOR CBS SPORTSLINE

CBS SportsLine Founder Michael Levy was profiled by
Kevin Gale in the Fort Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL on Sunday
under the header "Network's $4 Billion NFL Deal Also A Big
Win For CBS SportsLine." Levy's role in forming SportsLine
was examined and Gale wrote that SportsLine partnered with
CBS "knowing it would benefit from" the broadcasts of the
Olympics and the NCAA basketball tournament, but the NFL
deal "should help CBS SportsLine compete with rivals,
particularly" ESPN SportsZone (SUN-SENTINEL, 1/18). Shares
of SportsLine were up 3 1/8 yesterday, closing at 23 3/4.
TOOT! TOOT! CNNSI.com said it has concluded its first
six months of operation as the second most visited sports
site on the Web. In the fourth quarter of '97, CNNSI.com
totalled 276 million page impressions -- an average of 21
million per week and three million per day. Weekly traffic
ranged from 18 million to 24 million page views (CNNSI.com).
