MOORES MAY VOTE AGAINST MURDOCH; IS DODGERS DEAL IN TROUBLE?

Padres Owner John Moores says that he is "inclined to
vote against" the sale of the Dodgers to Rupert Murdoch's
News Corp., according to Barry Bloom of the SAN DIEGO UNION-
TRIBUNE. Moores "is aligning himself" with the Braves,
Giants and Cubs, who all, he says, "have expressed doubts
about the sale, which could be scuttled if" four of the NL's
16 owners vote against it. Moores: "We're very concerned
about having a monster to the north that does not care about
running the ballclub in a responsible manner. At the end of
the day, we're not going to sign off on it if it is going to
make our situation here intolerable" (UNION-TRIBUNE, 1/20).
