          Tigers and Red Wings Owner MIKE ILITCH underwent heart
     surgery yesterday in MI.  In a statement, the William
     Beaumont Hospital called the procedure "planned, routine and
     successful" and said the prognosis for a "full recovery is
     excellent" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 1/15)....TCI Chair JOHN
     MALONE said he will give "most of his" $1.5B net worth to an
     educational charity, the MALONE FAMILY FOUNDATION
     (AP/HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 1/14).....Last night's "Public Eye
     with Bryant Gumbel" included the results of an "informal"
     poll conducted by the show which asked people whether they
     would be in favor of cloning prominent people.  Of the
     respondents, 17% said they would be in favor of cloning
     MICHAEL JORDAN, followed by OPRAH WINFREY, 15%; POPE JOHN
     PAUL II, 12%; FRANK SINATRA, 8%; HILLARY CLINTON, 7%; KATHIE
     LEE GIFFORD, 5%; THEMSELVES (respondents), 5%; THEIR
     PARENTS, 15% ("Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel," CBS, 1/14).
