FACILITY NOTES

In Houston, Harris County Commissioners Court on
Tuesday voted 3-1 to allow the county sports authority to
borrow $234M to help finance construction of a new ballpark.
Officials said work on the park could begin as "early as
today" as it faces a "tight timetable to meet a March 2000
completion date" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 1/14)....The 70 luxury
suites at the NHL Panthers' new Sunrise arena are sold out.
Panthers Owner Wayne Huizenga has guaranteed Sunrise city
officials one suite for city use, which is worth "about"
     $2.5M over the next 30 years (SUN-SENTINEL, 1/14)....A new
study, conducted by HOK Sports and Urban Engineers, says
that the "best location" for a new Phillies ballpark is
downtown Philadelphia at 30th and Walnut Streets. The site
was funded by developer Dan Keating, who "is the leading
proponent of the 30th Street site" (DAILY NEWS, 1/14).
