          Davis Love III has signed a long-term personal-services
     contract with AmEx....Westin Hotels & Resorts has signed a
     three-year agreement to be title sponsor of the Texas Open
     (GOLFWEEK, 12/13)....Jazz F Karl Malone and Packers Coach
     Mike Holmgren have signed to endorse Rogaine Extra Strength
     For Men.  The two will act as spokespersons, but the company
     has no immediate plans to use them in advertising (THE
     DAILY)....The top age groups for buying sporting goods as
     holiday gifts are 18-24 (47% will buy) and 35-49 (45%). 
     Overall, 40% of men bought sporting goods items in '97,
     compared to 36% of women (USA TODAY, 121/7)....Tommy
     Hilfiger USA has named NY-based Deutsch Inc. to create its
     first Super Bowl commercial.  The spot will feature Michael
     Richards -- Kramer on NBC's "Seinfeld" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/17).
