IN WASHINGTON, NEW WNBA TEAM IS HEADED INTO THE MYSTICS

          The WNBA announced that its Washington expansion team
     will be named the Mystics (WNBA).  In DC, Amy Shipley reports
     that the Mystics will wear "some variation" of the Wizards'
     blue, black and bronze colors.  In addition, the Mystics "are
     expected to be assigned" '96-97 ABL MVP Nikki McCray next
     month when the league names the initial players for its two
     expansion teams.  Cindy Brown, another former ABL All-Star,
     is expected to go to the new Detroit WNBA team.  Mystic execs
     said that season-ticket commitments have reached "nearly"
     6,000 for the '98 season (WASHINGTON POST, 12/17).
