          Members of the MAVERICKS' DANCE TEAM were robbed of
     nearly $1,000 during Saturday's game in Mexico City.  NBA
     officials replaced the stolen money later that night (DALLAS
     MORNING NEWS, 12/10)....U.S. Sen. JOHN McCAIN (R-AZ) has
     asked NJ officials whether judges were "favorably disposed"
     toward SHANNON BRIGGS' promoter, MARC ROBERTS.  McCain
     addressed "speculation" that LARRY HAZZARD, NJ's athletic
     commissioner, has a financial interest in a Roberts-run-
     business, Worldwide Sports & Entertainment (AZ REPUBLIC,
     12/10)....SPIKE LEE was in Chicago taping cameos with
     MICHAEL JORDAN and SCOTTIE PIPPEN, as well as getting a
     voiceover from Bulls PA announcer RAY CLAY for his film "He
     Got Game" (SUN-TIMES, 12/10)....PEYTON MANNING was named to
     the GTE Academic All-America Football Team (GTE).
