ATTENTION FREE AGENTS: BASEBALL WEEKLY SAYS ATLANTA IS BEST

          The Braves are the best organization for an MLB player,
     according to USA TODAY BASEBALL WEEKLY's first "Players
     Rating Guide to the Major Leagues." BASEBALL WEEKLY ranked
     all 30 MLB teams "from the ballplayer's standpoint, using
     six baseball categories about the team and five categories
     about the city and the surrounding area." The six baseball
     categories were: team chemistry; ballpark; management; deep
     pockets; opportunity to win; and media scrutiny. The five
     non-baseball categories included: climate; crime;
     restaurants; entertainment; and golf. The Braves received
     85 of a possible 110 points.  The D'Backs (80); Rockies
     (78); Indians (77); Orioles and Mariners (76 each) rounded
     out the top five. The bottom five consisted of the Red Sox
     (52); Twins (52); White Sox (51); A's (47); and Expos (44)
     (USA TODAY BASEBALL WEEKLY, 10/26 issue).
