STREETBALL PARTNERS/SOUTHWEST AIRLINES STRUCK BY MARXISM

          A DC writer who claims he won $25,000 in a long-
     distance-shot contest is suing Southwest Airlines, sponsor
     of the contest, and TX-based Streetball Partners Management,
     the company that runs Hoop-It-Up street basketball events,
     accusing them of "fraud and deception," according to Richard
     Alm of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS.  Jeff Marx made a 70-foot
     shot, but the two Dallas companies say that "he didn't
     complete the requirements to win, so they're not going to
     pay him."  Contest rules stated that a contestant had to
     make two shots in order to win, but Marx says the rules
     weren't clearly posted.  Streetball Partners lawyer Bret
     Madole: "If he had won it, we'd be glad to pay him the
     money.  When somebody wins one of these contests, it's great
     publicity for us."  In his suit filed last week, Marx is
     asking for the $25,000 prize and $75,000 in punitive damages
     (Richard Alm, DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/21).
