Quaker Oats and IL-based agency Foote, Cone & Belding
are "prepping a nostalgic, star-studded pitch for its
Gatorade brand," according to Terry Lefton of BRANDWEEK.
The campaign will feature Chris Berman, Bill Murray and
Ahmad Rashad, all trying to "Be Like Mike." Lefton adds
that Will Smith, Ken Griffey Jr., Tiger Woods and Charles
Barkley are "also being pursued" (BRANDWEEK, 11/17 issue).
PRIDE OF ST. ALBANS: Philadelphia-area Burger Kings
have signed Flyers LW John LeClair to appear in TV ads
supporting a March promo. The area restaurants will offer
figurines of LeClair and teammates Eric Lindros, Chris
Gratton and Eric Desjardins. Support includes a TV buy on
Flyers broadcasts....BRANDWEEK's Lefton adds that Coors is
"already working on an assault" of Budweiser's official MLB
sponsorship for next summer's All-Star Game at Coors Field.
Coors has inked an agreement with MLB Players Alumni for
rights to a number of retired MLB players -- including Kirk
Gibson, Roberto Clemente, Carlton Fisk, Tony Perez and Babe
Ruth -- for a series of "great moments" cans to roll out
next June and July (Terry Lefton, BRANDWEEK, 11/17 issue).
