PATS RENOVATION ON HOLD AS FOXBORO BILL STALLS IN MA HOUSE

A bill that would help the Patriots remodel Foxboro
Stadium "has stalled for the year, despite earlier
assurances" from state leaders that they wanted to vote on
the $50M measure before the legislative session ended,
according to Tina Cassidy of the BOSTON GLOBE. Sources said
yesterday that while House Speaker Thomas Finneran
negotiated with Patriots Owner Robert Kraft in recent days,
"the two could not agree on terms for the state's financial
contribution to the team's rebuilding plan." As a result,
"the bill -- initially slated for expedited consideration --
has not been scheduled for debate." Cassidy writes that the
Patriots "are worried about losing key months for
construction on the stadium expansion and missing an
opportunity to market new club seats." Patriots
VP/Communications Don Lowery said that legislators told him
the bill was "dead" for now, but could be carried over to
the next session starting in January (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/14).
