Marv Albert will appear on CNN's "Larry King Live"
tonight at 9:00pm ET, in a pre-taped interview that will not
include taking viewer phone calls (N.Y. POST, 11/11).
THOUGHTS ON MARV: Columnists continued to weigh in on
Albert's media appearances. In Baltimore, Milton Kent
criticizes Albert's talk-show tour: "[A]ll this exposure
will likely do is set up the former NBC sportscaster for
more derision" (Baltimore SUN, 11/11). In the N.Y. TIMES'
op-ed page, columnist Frank Rich writes under the header,
"Marv Spins ABC." Rich: "The '20/20' segment was an
excruciating exercise in recycling dirty underwear. Such
entertainment has its place on TV -- whether on 'Hard Copy'
or 'Jenny Jones' or, for laughs, on 'Letterman' -- but
journalism it's not. Mr. Albert's '20/20' appearance was
merely the ritualistic opening gambit in his carefully
plotted public-relations effort to rehabilitate his
reputation so that he may reclaim his rightful place in the
celebrity pantheon beside Hugh Grant" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/11).
Also in N.Y., Richard Sandomir writes, "Marv, just say no
more." Sandomir adds that "waiting three months, even a
year, when the stories and charges are blurred, might have
helped Albert." More Sandomir: "[A]fter the weeklong Marv-
over-America tour ends on Thursday, will we all feel better
about him? Or will we think he tried to manipulate the
media he was a part of for 30 years, trying to sell the
defense he didn't tell in court?" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/11).
