          PEOPLE: In Chicago, Michael Hirsley writes that Greg
     Gumbel heads the list of candidates to replace Marv Albert on
     NBC's NBA telecasts (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 10/31)....Meanwhile,
     CBS announced that Albert will appear on the "Late Show" with
     David Letterman on November 12 (N.Y. POST, 10/31).  NEWSDAY's
     Verne Gay writes that the appearances of Albert on ABC's
     "20/20," CNN's "Larry King Live" and then the "Late Show" "is
     hardly surprising: "Albert ... clearly plans to get the hard-
     hitting interviews out of the way, then finish with a comedic
     one" (NEWSDAY, 10/31)....Jim Kelly will discuss his incident
     last week with Colts QB Jim Harbaugh this Sunday on NBC's NFL
     pregame show (N.Y. TIMES, 10/31).
          GENERAL: USA TODAY's Rudy Martzke writes that ESPN and
     Fox's FX "are gearing up to challenge TNT for NBA cable
     rights" (USA TODAY, 10/31)...With its expansion draft in
     November, MLB has set a $250,000 fine to anyone found guilty
     of leaking their respective 15-man protected list to the
     media (Colorado Springs GAZETTE TELEGRAPH, 10/30).
