Univ. of MD's football ticket sales "will fall about $700,000 below budget projections," according to Paul McMullen of the Baltimore SUN. The school is currently averaging 28,374 for its football games, down from last year's 29,559 average. The school's revenue projections "have taken a beating," as the AD made $350,000 less on ticket sales than it anticipated in '96, and that figure "could double" this year. The addition of a sixth home game led the school to project $2.3M in ticket revenue, but actual sales will be closer to $1.6M.
