A TANGLED WEBB: PEPSI CENTER DEAL "IN JEOPARDY"

          The Pepsi Center deal between Ascent Entertainment and
     the city of Denver "could be in jeopardy," according to Alan
     Snel of the DENVER POST.  On Monday, both sides admitted
     "serious differences," with Ascent saying that "there can be
     no assurances that Ascent will be successful in completing
     its negotiations with the city of Denver."  The city, among
     other issues, wants Ascent to "guarantee" that its teams
     will remain in Denver for "at least" 25 years, and that "no
     tax revenues will be tapped" to pay off the arena.  Ascent
     has already missed last Friday's groundbreaking deadline
     imposed by its lender.  Construction is "idle" as the City
     Council "did not sign off on, or even receive" a final arena
     contract from Mayor Wellington Webb (DENVER POST, 10/28).
