Filmmaker Michael Moore was in Portland, OR, to screen and discuss his film "The Big One," which includes an interview with Nike Chair Phil Knight. Before the film, Moore read a letter from Nike Dir of PR Lee Weinstein which criticized the film. Weinstein wrote: "This is no 'Roger & Me.' Let's face it, Moore needs a hit" (PORTLAND BUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/20 issue)....Dallas-based Streetball Partners Int'l was retained by Southwestern Bell to develop, produce and operate the Southwestern Bell Cotton Bowl Football Fest at the State Fair of Texas. The event ran during the Fair, September 26-October 19, and attracted 150,000 (SPI). -
HOOP-IT-UP FINALS HELD THIS WEEKEND IN CA
Spalding Sports Worldwide will unveil the official indoor/outdoor WNBA basketball at the Hoop-It-Up World Finals in Venice Beach, CA, October 24-25. Hoop-It-Up, the 3-on-3 street basketball Tour, will host seven women's and seven men's teams this weekend. The World Finals will feature the Hoop-It-Up women's amateur champions playing against a team of WNBA players, including Lisa Leslie, Tina Thompson, Michelle Edwards and Tamecka Dixon. The men's amateur champs will take on a team consisting of Spud Webb, Michael Cooper, Bobby Jones and Orlando Woolridge. The event is presented by TX-based Streetball Partners (SPI).
