O'MALLEY PUBLICLY BACKS COLISEUM PLAN. BUT FOR HOW LONG?

Dodger Owner Peter O'Malley, "while admittedly on the
brink of pursuing a new football stadium once again" for
L.A., agreed Friday to Councilmember Mark Ridley-Thomas'
request for his continued support of the new Coliseum,
according to T.J. Simers of the L.A. TIMES. But O'Malley is
"looking for results" at the Coliseum. O'Malley: "The
Coliseum site has now exclusively had 13 months. ... If you
add a few months to the process we will have gotten to a
year and a half and that should be ample time to bring this
project together." Last week, when NFL Commissioner Paul
Tagliabue said that the league would be open to other sites
in L.A., "it appeared the door might reopen" for O'Malley to
revisit plans for a facility near Dodger Stadium. Simers
wrote O'Malley had begun meeting with L.A. officials again
and "dusting off stadium plans." But "then Ridley-Thomas
     came calling" (L.A. TIMES, 10/18).
