NEW POLLS SHOWS DALLAS VOTERS SUPPORTING NEW ARENA

A new Dallas Morning News survey shows that 51% of
Dallas voters support the city's $230M plan for a new arena
and the new hotel and car rental taxes that would finance
it, while 39% are opposed to it, according to Gillman & Lee
of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The results of the poll, which
was conducted October 8-15 and has a margin of error of +/-
4.5%, "encouraged" supporters of the proposed arena,
although the deal's critics say the poll shows that many
"are skeptical about subsidizing" the Mavericks and Stars.
Other results of the survey found that 70% of voters agree
that it is "important to keep" the teams in Dallas, down
from 76% in April (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/19).
