NFL SEMINARS TARGETING WOMEN BIG HIT IN BIG D

          The NFL 101 Workshops for Women are being held in a
     number of cities in October.  Classes were held Wednesday in
     Dallas and yesterday in Jacksonville and will take place
     October 20 in Cincinnati, October 23 in Minneapolis, and
     October 29 in Foxboro, MA.  The instructional football
     workshops are being led by Betsy Berns, author of "The
     Women's Armchair Guide to Pro Football" and President of the
     Women's Institute for Football Education (NFL).
          DALLAS TURNOUT: In Dallas, Jacquielynn Floyd reported
     that "a sellout crowd" of 800 attended Wednesday's NFL
     workshop at Texas Stadium.  Registration cost $10.  NFL
     Manager of Corporate Communications Brian McCarthy: "We got
     a big response in San Diego, and 700 signed up there, but it
     wasn't like this" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/16).  Cowboys VP
     of Marketing George Hayes: "We ran one (newspaper) ad and
     had one mention on the radio and 800 people came out, plus
     we had 250 more women on a waiting list (FT. WORTH STAR-
     TELEGRAM, 10/16). In Indianapolis, the Colts held a team
     sponsored workshop which drew "more than 100 women" on
     Tuesday night (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 10/17).
