MLS SET TO ANNOUNCE TV DEAL WITH ABC/ESPN IN NEW YORK TODAY

          A press conference with ABC/ESPN President Steve
     Bornstein and MLS Commissioner Doug Logan will be held today
     in New York and Michael Lewis reports that MLS "will
     announce the most comprehensive pro soccer TV deal ever with
     more than 50 games for next season, including several on ABC
     and the rest on ESPN and ESPN2" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/16). 
     USA TODAY's Jerry Langdon adds that the deal is a "multiyear
     deal that could be worth" $5M in the first year and include
     up to 12 weekend games in '98 (USA TODAY, 10/16).
