POLL SHOWS DALLAS-AREA VOTERS MAY NOT SUPPORT MAVS ARENA

          A STAR-TELEGRAM/Univ. of TX poll of 640 voters in
     Dallas, Arlington and Grand Prairie showed that Dallas and
     Arlington voters "are in no mood to approve tax increases to
     pay for a new arena for the Mavericks and Stars," according
     to Mede Nix of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM.  Voters "were
     more receptive to shared costs between the teams and a city
     and if fans who used the facility paid for it through ticket
     and parking taxes.  Grand Prairie voters were more receptive
     in all cases."  Regarding city financing of an arena, 67% of
     Arlington voters were opposed, along with 62% of Dallas
     voters.  If the teams and cities shared the costs, 54% of
     Arlington respondents would favor the plan, along with 66%
     of Grand Prairie voters and 54% of Dallas voters (FT. WORTH
