NEW WOMEN'S GLOBAL CHALLENGE NARROWS LIST OF POTENTIAL HOSTS
Published September 26, 1997
The Women's Sports Foundation has narrowed potential
sites for its inaugural Women's Global Challenge to Nassau
County, NY; Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando;
Phoenix; San Diego or Washington, D.C. The five cities will
submit final proposals for the international competition
(Women's Sports Foundation). In San Diego, Don Norcross
reported that Women's Sports Foundation President Benita
Fitzgerald Mosley is also Dir of the ARCO Olympic Training
Center in Chula Vista, CA. Mosley, when asked if her local
ties may give San Diego an edge in the selection process: "I
try not to think so. I don't want to look like there's a
conflict of interest ... San Diego has a wonderful image ...
They don't need help from me" (UNION TRIBUNE, 9/25).
