SIGNS OF THE TIMES: SIGNAGE PLAN TO BE REVIEWED IN ARIZONA

Six "colorful" murals will adorn the north facade of
the D'Backs' Bank One Ballpark, according to Eric Miller of
the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. The murals, each 64 feet tall and 58
feet wide, will be mounted on movable walls which will open
when the retractable roof is open. Beneath each of the
panels will be a 4x22 foot sign bearing the corporate logo
of the team's building partners: Circle K, America West
Airlines, Arizona Public Service Co., Miller Lite beer,
Nissan and U.S. West. The north facade will also have signs
advertising KTAR radio, Friday's Sports Grill, and a
ballpark microbrewery. The signs are part of a plan for the
exterior of the stadium "to be reviewed at a public hearing
on Thursday." The plan also "calls for large 'Bank One
Ballpark' logos to be affixed to all four sides" of the new
park. Phoenix Senior Site-Development Inspector Kelly Zak
predicts that the new plan, complete with the advertising,
"will easily gain approval" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 9/24).
