              Time Warner Vice Chair TED TURNER is making "the
         largest charitable donation ever," $1B to benefit UN
         agencies which will be used to establish a not-for-profit
         foundation to benefit UN programs "aiding refugees and
         children, clearing mines and fighting disease."  The TIMES
         writes that Turner is "well known for his ownership of the
         Atlanta Falcons" (N.Y. TIMES, 9/19).... Magic VP JULIUS
         ERVING "is expected to be a character witness" for NBC's
         MARV ALBERT, whose trial on sodomy and assault charges
         begins Monday in VA (USA TODAY, 9/19)....In Chicago, Jim
         O'Donnell writes that PETER VESCEY "is the latest charlatan
         sniffing around the last-tango Bulls with visions of a best-
         seller dancing in his head" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 9/19).
         ...Westchester County, NY, Medical Center and the Yankees
         are hosting "DAVID CONE's Kids Clinic" to benefit the
         Children's Hospital at the Medical Center.  The clinic will
