NASCAR TO DEVELOP STAND-ALONE NASCAR GO-CART PARKS

NASCAR has expanded its NASCAR SpeedPark go-cart
concept to include stand-alone projects exclusively with
Myrtle Beach, SC-based Burroughs & Chapin Co. The NASCAR
SpeedParks were initially designed to be a part of St.
Andrews' All-American SportsPark concept, which will debut
in Las Vegas later this year. But NASCAR VP/Licensing &
Consumer Products George Pyne said, "The demand for the
NASCAR SpeedPark concept has led us to developing stand-
alone projects." The first SpeedPark will be built in
Myrtle Beach and feature eight tracks, with plans to develop
10 more sites over a two-year period (NASCAR).
DAYS OF THUNDER: A NASCAR Thunder store, "a sort of
Disney store for racing fans," will open in Phoenix next
month, according to Glen Creno of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC.
There are currently six stores, with four others, including
the one in Phoenix, to open before the end of the year. Ten
more stores "are planned" for '98 (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 9/18).
