          The Warriors "have replaced" Greg Papa as their TV
     announcer with "untried" KNBR-radio talk show host Bob
     Fitzgerald (S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/11)....TNT VP/Media Relations
     Greg Hughes said that TNT "has made special production
     plans" for Sunday night's Jets-Patriots game, "including
     directing a camera full-time on Jets coach Bill Parcells"
     (NEWSDAY, 9/11)....Tuesday night's broadcast of the Mets-
     Phillies game, which included a tribute to the late Richie
     Ashburn, received a 6.7/11 rating for WPHL-TV in
     Philadelphia, which "more than doubles" the Phillies' 3.0
     average for the season (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 9/11).
     ...ABC's "Monday Night Football" featuring the Chiefs-
     Raiders received a 13.4/24 rating, down from the 15.8/27 of
     the second MNF game in '96 (WASHINGTON POST, 9/11)....New
     Federal regulations begin this week that require broadcast
     TV stations to carry three hours a week of educational shows
     for viewers 16 and under.  In N.Y., Lawrie Mifflin writes,
     "A look at the fall schedule, which begins on Saturday,
     raises serious questions about how ... networks have
     accepted the challenge. ... the most watched network, NBC,
     continues to say that 'N.B.A. Inside Stuff' is designed to
     teach 'life lessons,' not just promote basketball" (N.Y.
     TIMES, 9/11)....Lifetime CEO Doug McCormick, on the WNBA: "I
     don't want to get ahead of the league, but I'd love to do an
     all-star game on Lifetime if they go with a longer season"
     (CABLE WORLD, 9/8 issue)....Hill & Knowlton Sports of
     Irvine, CA, and London, assisted Athens with its PR effort
     in its successful bid for the 2004 Games (L.A. TIMES, 9/11).
