JUST FOR THE FRUM OF IT? MURRAY CLOSE TO DEAL FOR JAYS

The group led by Murray Frum that is trying to buy the
Blue Jays "is on the agenda" for the MLB owners' meetings,
which begin Tuesday in Atlanta, according to Mike Ganter of
the TORONTO SUN. Owners will be updated on the status of
the sale, with the next step being a vote by baseball's
executive council and final approval from all 30 teams.
Bill Bartholomay, who headed up the committee that conducted
the due diligence on Frum's group: "It's fair to say the
long process is coming to an end. ... For the most part now,
the lawyers are just working on the language" (TORONTO SUN,
9/11). In Toronto, William Houston: "Interbrew's sale of
its sports properties, the [Argonauts] as well as the Jays,
will be quickly approved by baseball" (GLOBE & MAIL, 9/11).
