TEAM MEDIA NOTES: BREWERS GIVE UP RADIO AUTONOMY IN NEW DEAL

After fifteen years of operating their own radio
network, the Brewers announced that WTMJ-AM "would take over
operation of the Brewers radio network effective next
season," according to Drew Olson of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL. As part of the new deal, the Brewers will "no
longer be involved in ad sales but will be paid an
undisclosed rights fee by WTMJ." Brewers VP Laurel Prieb
said the deal is "symptomatic of our growth. ... [I]t just
makes sense to use their [WTMJ's] resources to help reach
our fans." The club is also "currently negotiating" its TV
rights package, which Prieb "hopes will be completed" by the
end of the season (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/25).
TEAM NOTES: The 76ers' TV schedule includes 60 games on
Comcast SportsNet as well as 21 to be broadcast on WPSG-UPN
and one on NBC. The 76ers return to broadcast TV after a
three year absence (76ers). Also in Philadelphia, Comcast
Sports Net will carry 12 AHL Phantoms telecasts (Comcast).
...The Hornets will show 47 of 82 games on local TV, "as
many as ever before." Every road game will be seen locally
(CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/27)....The Warriors announced that
KICU-TV will broadcast a package of 41 games this year
(Warriors)....The Grizzlies will have a 24 game package on
Victoria-based CHEK-TV. That is in addition to four games
on TSN and eight games on CTV (VANCOUVER SUN, 8/27).
