THINGS NOT SO ROCKY TOP IN TN AS OILERS DEMOTE MCCLURE

NFL Oilers Senior VP Don MacLachlan was promoted to
Exec VP Monday and put in charge of the non-football part of
the organization in Nashville and Memphis, according to John
McClain of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. MacLachlan's promotion
means that Exec VP/Administration Mike McClure "has been
demoted." The team said that McClure, who "engineered" the
move from Houston, will keep his title and "continue to
provide input on non-football operations while focusing
primarily on development of the club's new Nashville stadium
and continuing his active role in community, city and
governmental affairs." Oilers VP/Memphis Ops Pepper Rodgers
will report to MacLachlan and MacLachlan will report to team
Owner Bud Adams. Adams: "Logistically, things have been
very tough. To combat that, I felt it would be better
served if we had one person overseeing everything rather
than three different voices" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 8/26).
