DISNEY AND FOX SETTLE LEGAL DISPUTES OVER COVERAGE/CARRIAGE

Anaheim Sports and Fox Sports West issued a statement
stating they have "resolved the issues which led to several
lawsuits between the two companies," and the parties will
dismiss all pending legal action against each other. As
part of the agreement, Fox Sports West 2 will air Mighty
Ducks games through the '97-98 playoffs, and FSW will air
Angels games through the '99 season (Anaheim Sports). The
HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Scott Hettrick reported that Disney
"prevailed in its fight to nullify" a three-year contract
extension for the Ducks announced by FSW in August '96 that
would have extended the deal to 2001. Hettrick added the
deal also allows Fox to keep TV rights to the Angels through
the end of the '99 season, a contract term that "was also in
dispute" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 8/25). In L.A., Thao Hua
reported that Disney plans to start an RSN "that may
include" Ducks and Angels games (L.A. TIMES, 8/23).
