LAMAR HUNT was profiled in the K.C. STAR under the
header, "As Lamar Hunt's Achievements Grow, So Do The
Stories." Joe Posnanski wrote that Hunt, who owns the
Chiefs, two MLS teams and a small part of the Bulls, "rides
the subway in New York. He flies coach class. He once said
he would only own one suit because that's all a man needs.
... His home number is listed" (KANSAS CITY STAR, 8/22).
NAIMOLI IN COURT: Court documents show that Devil Rays
Managing General Partner VINCE NAIMOLI, who "was fired" as
Chair/CEO of automobile part supplier Harvard Industries in
February, "negotiated" a $3M+ severance package, according to
the TAMPA TRIBUNE. But Harvard, which is going through
bankruptcy proceedings, has asked a judge to terminate the
agreement. Naimoli "is fighting the company's efforts to
terminate the deal" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/24).
WAYNE'S WORLD: In Miami, business columnist James Russel
wrote on WAYNE HUIZENGA, noting the Marlins, "with their
financial losses mounting even as their on-field performance
sparkles, are up for sale. And Huizenga's Republic
Industries has lost its charm on Wall Street. ... Huizenga's
other public stock enterprise, Florida Panthers, has taken
its lumps, too, falling in value from a high of $32 a share
to Friday's close of $20.06 1/4" (MIAMI HERALD, 8/24).
