FUTURE OF MARV ALBERT'S CAREER SUBJECT OF MEDIA SPECULATION

Marv Albert's future in sportscasting continues to be
examined by the media, and on CNN's "Larry King Live" last
evening, ABC's Armen Keteyian said, "I think what is truly
unfortunate here is whether Marv is guilty or innocent ...
his reputation and his career have been irrevocably harmed."
("LKL," 8/12). On MSNBC's "InterNight," Vic Kamber,
president of the PR firm The Kamber Group, said, "I think if
he's not guilty of a felony, we've seen many, many people go
on." Vanity Fair's Christopher Hitchens: "If he's convicted
of this felony, he will cease to be a sportscaster at least
for a few years. Because he'll be somewhere else, he'll be
up the river" (MSNBC, 8/12). Media buyer Paul Schulman:
"NBC, advertisers and the like will stand behind Marv until
he's proven guilty, if he's ever proven guilty. He has an
impeccable reputation until this came along and he still
hasn't been proven guilty" (USA TODAY, 8/13).
