LONG ISLAND IN-LINE RINK EYES OUT OF STATE EXPANSION

Long Island entrepreneur Peter Riccardo "is about six
     weeks away" from opening a $1.5M open-air in-line skating
complex in Mount Sinai, Long Island, which "he hopes is the
beginning of a national chain that will do for roller hockey
what Blockbuster Video did for movie rentals," according to
Paul Schreiber of NEWSDAY. Riccardo hopes his America In-
Line complexes "will attract young skaters and their
families, and advertisers who want to reach them." He plans
new facilities in areas that include Manhattan's Roosevelt
Island; Huntington, NY; Danbury, CT;, and Pompano Beach, FL.
NEWSDAY's Schreiber notes that America In-Line's complexes
will have two large rinks, four small rinks, bleachers, a
pro shop, a food stand and party room, and that 125 teams,
"made up of 12 to 14 players" will pay $60 a season to play.
Riccardo's "two partners in America In-Line" are Patrick
Cunningham and James Aracri and each additional complex
"will have its own investors" (NEWSDAY, 8/12).
