NO MEAN STREETS IN DETROIT AS TIGERS GO DOOR-TO-DOOR

The Tigers and MI-based Boss Advertising have started a
new marketing campaign featuring a $20 coupon book that
"offers coupons for two $12 tickets and other coupons for
buy one, get one free," according to Doug Durfee of the
DETROIT NEWS. Boss, which handles sports and recreation
marketing, started the campaign two weeks ago, and will run
it through the end of August. While the Tigers "provide the
tickets," Boss provides the staff and keeps the $20 charge.
Tigers Senior Dir of Marketing Mike Dietz: "Basically, they
told the Tigers they could hit about 100,000 homes. ...
They're going neighborhood to neighborhood, as well as
businesses." Boss Marketing Representative Paulo Frattini:
"Our attitude is let's get them coming in the front door
once, and it's up to the client to keep them coming back."
The Tigers have also inked "a joint marketing deal" with the
city's Birmingham Theatre, "which recently gave away free
passes to moviegoers" (DETROIT NEWS, 8/12).
