          CT-based Cannondale, "best known for making mountain
     and touring bicycles," plans to introduce a line of
     wheelchairs "designed for the sporting enthusiast" (N.Y.
     DAILY NEWS, 8/11)....In St. Louis, Bernie Miklasz, on Rams
     first-round draft pick Orlando Pace's holdout: "One of the
     really dumb aspects of the silly Orlando Pace holdout is how
     he's gradually destroying his own endorsement opportunities. 
     Why should [Kevin Poston, Pace's agent] hold the kid out for
     a few nickels more when he stands to lose gobs of money as a
     pitchman for St. Louis businesses?" (ST. LOUIS POST-
     DISPATCH, 8/9)....Fox Sports Net has joined forces with
     Spike Lee to produce a series of promo spots touting the
     net's regional NHL telecasts for the '97-98 season.  The
     Spike/DDB regional customized spots will run under the
     banner: "The NHL on Fox Sports Net: Be Glad You're Just
     Watching" (Fox Sports Net)....Converse has signed Jazz G
     Jacque Vaughn to a multi-year endorsement deal with the
     company (Converse)....Shares in Coca-Cola were down 3 7/8 to
     62 11/16 Friday.  On "NBR," Paul Kangas reported that "the
     company said its third quarter earnings this year will only
     slightly exceed last year's levels" ("NBR," 8/8).
