FOX OFFICIAL DENIES BLOOMBERG REPORT ON MICHAEL MILKEN

Fox VP/Media Relations Vince Wladika "denied" a
Bloomberg Business report that News Corp. is considering
hiring Michael Milken as a top exec should it purchase the
Dodgers, according to USA TODAY's Rudy Martzke. Wladika:
"Our goal is to have people who are running the Dodgers
remain in place" (USA TODAY, 8/11). BLOOMBERG reported that
the "former junk bond financier" is an "avid baseball fan,"
has served as adviser to News Corp. Chair Rupert Murdoch in
his bid to buy the Dodgers. BLOOMBERG added that Milken
"could become the team's president and leave baseball
decisions" to former manager Tommy Lasorda. A spokesperson
for Milken declined comment (BLOOMBERG, 8/10).
FAIR TO CLAIRE? In L.A., Dodgers Exec VP Fred Claire
signed a new three-year contract "amid rumors" that Tommy
Lasorda "would be interested in assuming Claire's post if
and when the club is sold to Rupert Murdoch. Lasorda has
denied those rumors" (Steve Springer, L.A. TIMES, 8/9).
