POCKLINGTON WANTS LOCAL BUYERS FOR OILERS BY END OF SUMMER

Oilers Owner Peter Pocklington "said he would only go
as long as September before looking at other offers" outside
Edmonton to sell the Oilers, according to Jac MacDonald in
the EDMONTON JOURNAL. Pocklington said that while five or
six prospective buyers have received background info on the
team, "nobody has expressed further interest." Pocklington:
"The end of the summer is the maximum, then we will have to
get busy." Pocklington said he is looking for C$120M,
C$100M for the team and C$20M for leasing rights to the
Edmonton Coliseum (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 7/31). Also from
Edmonton, the SUN reports that the Oilers dismissed team
Marketing Dir Stew MacDonald and Ticketing Ops Dir Sheila
MacDonald of their duties. Oilers officials could not be
reached for comment (EDMONTON SUN, 7/31).
