NCAA LOOKING TO BRING FANS DOWN TO HOOP CITY IN '98

          The NCAA will conduct fan festivals in conjunction with
     the Div. I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships,
     beginning in '98.  NCAA Hoop City debuts March 26-30 in San
     Antonio, site of the '98 Men's Final Four, and March 25-29
     in Kansas City, the Women's site.  NCAA Hoop City will
     feature a movie theater, a library and a city park and
     interactive events concentrating on various basketball
     skills.  There will be youth clinics and other entertainment
     aspects (NCAA).  The NCAA hired Chicago-based Marquis Events
     Int'l, Marriott's event management and marketing division,
     to produce Hoop City in a three-year agreement (MEI).
