MAVS FASTBREAK IN PUSH FOR TICKET AND SPONSORSHIP SALES

The Mavericks are set to launch a "promotional campaign
to sell tickets," according to Richard Alm of the DALLAS
MORNING NEWS. Billboards with the "Never a Dull Moment"
theme have been erected along Dallas-area highways, and in
the "next few weeks, other images will be added to the
billboards," including players and the team mascot, Mavs
Man. Next week, TV and radio spots will break. Alm writes
that this season's ad campaign will focus on entertainment
at Reunion Arena, "including a team that's been purged of
malcontents." Radio spots targeting "diehard" fans,
entitled "Straight Talk with Nellie," feature Mavs GM Don
Nelson, while TV spots star Mavs C Shawn Bradley and G-F
Michael Finley. Alm reports that corporate sponsorships are
"already at 60 this year, up from 40 last season." Mavs
Director of Corp. Sponsorships George Killebrew said that
with the team controlling all its advertising, "it can
tailor packages that combine" signage, TV, radio, tickets
and entertainment (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/26).
