STADIUM NOTES

In N.Y., Robert Lipsyte profiled Disney's Wide World of
Sports complex in Orlando, under the header "Wish Upon A
Star, Be One." Next fall, the Pacers will hold a one-week
training camp at Orlando, while an All-Star Cafe is expected
to open around the same time (N.Y. TIMES, 7/27)....A panel
from the DC-based Urban Land Institute said Friday that the
Denver Sports Complex, home to Mile High Stadium, "is
superior" to Stapleton Airport as a football stadium for the
Broncos (Alan Snel, DENVER POST, 7/26)....Tigers President
John McHale, on a $260M budget, which would allow for a
seating capacity of only 40,000 in the team's new ballpark:
"On the basis of all kinds of measurements with which we're
familiar -- cost per seat, cost per square foot -- 40,000 is
a good use of our budget" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 7/28).
