MD STADIUM AUTHORITY REACHES PARKING AND CELL PHONE DEALS

The MD Stadium Authority (MSA) "has struck an agreement
to rent space" under an Interstate overpass near Camden
Yards for parking during Orioles and Ravens games, according
to the Baltimore SUN. A three-year contract has the MSA
paying $22,902.75 to the MD Transportation Authority for the
land "which will accommodate 377 parking spaces." The
payments represent "about half" of the revenue the MSA will
receive from the cars parking on site (Baltimore SUN, 7/25).
PHONE TAG: Nextel Communications has gained approval
from the MSA to put up a transmitter and cluster of
antennas, known as a "cell site," on the roof of the
adjacent warehouse to Camden Yards. Nextel becomes the
fourth wireless communication company to add a cell site to
the roof, "providing about $70,000 a year in unexpected
rental income" to the MSA (Jon Morgan, Baltimore SUN, 7/28).
