STADIUM NOTES

A MIAMI HERALD editorial criticizes the City of Miami
and Dade County's failure to reach a land deal for the
Heat's new arena: "What the two sides can't seem to agree
upon is the price and the terms. Each side blames the
other. What the parties need to remember, however, is that
if the deal falls through and doubt is cast on the Heat's
future in Miami, then the public will blame both sides --
and rightly so" (MIAMI HERALD, 7/22)....The Nashville Arena
will undergo a $14.1M renovation of luxury suites, locker
rooms and other amenities to get ready for the '98-99 NHL
season (NASHVILLE BANNER, 7/21)....Ground was broken on
Raleigh's new sports arena on Monday, which will be the home
of NC State Univ. and the NHL Hurricanes. In a study of new
arenas, the NEWS & OBSERVER examines public financing of
facilities in Nashville, Raleigh, St. Paul, Columbus and
Atlanta for the five new NHL teams (NEWS & OBSERVER, 7/22).
