STALLONE, ROOTED IN DEATH RACE 2000, EYES FORMULA ONE FILM

          Sylvester Stallone has acquired the rights for a film
     on Formula One racing from F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone,
     according to DAILY VARIETY.  Stallone, a F1 fan, has been in
     talks with Ecclestone since they met three years ago. 
     Stallone "hopes to direct the film, which he envisions as a
     four-character drama," in '98 or '99.  No writer has yet
     been assigned for the script and "it's not clear whether
     Stallone will star" (DAILY VARIETY, 7/17).
