          FL-based sporting goods retailer The Sports Authority
     said Monday that it expects second quarter per share
     earnings of $0.30, $0.04 below analysts' expectations and
     $0.01 above last year's second quarter per share earnings
     (TSA).  On "Moneyline," CNN's Jan Hopkins noted that TSA
     shares fell 1 11/16 to 19 yesterday on the NYSE and added,
     "Sales of fitness and outdoor equipment are down" (CNN,
     7/14)....The A's have sold ad space on dugout walls to
     sports marketing company HA-LO (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER,
     7/14)....GOLFWORLD reports that the PA General Assembly is
     considering a resolution that would prohibit state agencies,
     public schools and local governments from accepting or
     buying Nike products, sponsorship and ads.  The legislation
     was in response to alleged human rights violations at Nike-
     contracted Asian factories.  In GOLFWORLD's "The Insider,"
     Steve Pike writes that Wilson Sporting Goods parent Amer
     Group "was expected" to be sold June 30 to Jonathan Bryan
     Guinness, whose family owns the Guinness brewery (GOLFWORLD,
     7/14)....OR-based Columbia Sportswear will outfit staff and
     Team USA members as part of its official sponsorship of the
     '97 World Fly Fishing Championships September 3-9 in Jackson
     Hole, WY (Columbia).
