FREEMAN COLISEUM OR DOWNTOWN SITE FOR NEW SPURS HOME?

          While a site near Freeman Coliseum, north of San
     Antonio's downtown, seems to be the leading candidate for a
     new Spurs arena, "there is strong support" for a downtown
     site,  according to Travis Poling of the SAN ANTONIO
     EXPRESS-NEWS.  Spurs execs "have been talking for a year"
     with San Antonio Livestock Exposition leaders and the
     Coliseum Advisory Board about the prospects of building a
     new arena on the land near Freeman Coliseum.  But Spurs
     Chair Peter Holt said, "We've never discounted (downtown) as
     a possible site" (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 7/13).
